We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join a great team in Northwest Edmonton. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will ensure that all equipment operates safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall productivity of our operations.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Assist with equipment repair, maintenance, and scheduling of preventative and major repairs.
  • working on Trucks and Trailer – some loaders and forklifts.
  • Service and repair off-road equipment, including various heavy machinery brands.
  • Diagnose issues, adjust equipment, and replace defective parts as needed.
  • Troubleshoot failures and recommend repair solutions.
  • Operate tools and machinery as required.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform maintenance on mechanical systems, including engines, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records per company policies and regulations.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO QUALIFY:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Needs own tools.
  • CVIP (Certified Vehicle Inspection)
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance, with experience in scrap metal handling equipment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty parts, components, and machining equipment.
  • Ability to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for reporting.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to speak English.
